You can taste the rose myrtle fresh from the hillside during Summer. This is a place to eat this succulent fresh and exotic fruit. The Vietnamese word for this fruit sim. The name is Rose Myrtle Island. The fruit is tropical. The foliage is tropical. The soil is tropical. This whole island is a vista of tropical delight. The ecosystem is divulging with life. There are insects here that you won’t see in many other places. It is still relatively unspoilt. It is 8.7km hectares of captivating fauna and rich plant diversity. It is an explorer’s version of Titop Island, which is next to Soi Sim Island.
Not that Titop’s vision of an island is that bad. The usual Halong Bay-based activities are showing up on Soi Sim. Water sports such as kayaking and snorkelling are available. There are water motorcycles available to ride around the island. Taking time out to see the coast is one important thing to do in the area. The vast array of sea life around the island is incredible to see. Plans to keep this place sustainable may require tourist numbers to be restricted in the future.
Sim Soi island is in as perfect condition as far as untouched islands can be right now. The beaches are clean and pure. The sea is fresh. The ecosystem has remained intact. Visitors can trek to the viewing station at the peak of the island to get a panoramic view of the area. This is certainly a place to visit.
Boats are departing from Halong Port at Route 2 Pier. It takes around 20 minutes and is 150,000 VND per person each way. Various 2-3-day cruise tours also stop off at this island for 1-2 hours.
