Ky Co was a vacation spot for the Champa in ancient times. It’s now a vacation spot for the Vietnamese people. It’s the new spot for foreign tourists. This place offers a complete escape from the world. The best time to visit is from April to September. The dry season brings the idyllic climate for those mesmerising moments. It is located at the foot of a crest of mountainsides. Phuong Hai Mountain looks over the beach, showing the impressive coastline in all its glory.
Located around 25-30 km from Quy Nhon, this stretch of coastline can be accessed by road or sea. The speedboats make daily trips to and from the beach and can be booked via a tour guide. One day is available. Pickups are at Quy Nhon, with stops made at Ky Co, Phuong Mai Dune and Eo Gio Coastal Neighbourhood. Half-day excursions depart from Nhon Ly. This tour takes you to Pineapple Beach and Dua Island for some underwater coral exploration.
Taxis also go to the mountainside, where you can take public vehicles to the beach. No private transport is allowed inside. The road trip to the beach is known for its attractions. There are some breath-taking views. Dunes can be visited, and this route offers a possibility to head to the peak of Phuong Mai Mountain. No tour offers this stop and it is one of the most sought-after photo shots in the area. You might be able to canoe to the beach from the entrance point. Not always available, but the possibility arises at points.
The beach curves around and almost create a little pool in the sea. Sunbathing, snorkelling and swimming are the main activities on this coastline. The jade and blue crystal-clear waters will leave you wanting to go back again and again. There are caves to have a look around. Ong Dia Rock is one place most visitors look to find. It’s a bit of a walk through the clear sea and its warm, slow tide, but a worthwhile one.
There are a few options to stay on Ky Co Beach. Guesthouses range from luxury to basic hut style accommodation. There isn’t so many, however, so book early. The seafood is known to be fresh and succulent, particularly the grilled urchin and crabs on offer. This is something to be tried while visiting this area. If you visit Quy Nhon, you must go to Ky Co Beach. It is unmissable.
