With the 67m white statue of Lady Bodhisattva, Linh Ung Pagoda is a picturesque viewpoint from which you can admire long and impressive Da Nang coastline. The landmark is situated on the peninsula at the northern tip 8 km from the center of Da Nang. After a relaxing ride along the beach, the road goes up in serpentines until you reach Linh Ung Pagoda which is the most important religious attraction of the city.
The pagoda was opened in 2010 and it has a great balance between the modern and traditional Vietnamese style, particularly in the three-entrance gate, the main chamber, and the ancestors’ house. Getting to the largest pagoda in the city, you will pass a remarkable three-door gate first and a gorgeous patio with many uniquely trimmed bonsai trees and statues of 18 Arhats who are believed to be the original followers of the Buddha. The main building holds various statues of Buddha, and stories depicting their life.
Enjoying the ocean view and the coastal stripe of Da Nang are the wonderful things you can do here. You can take a great photo with a monkey resting on one of the pillars with the beach and the city in the background. It is more delightful if you can go to this place when it gets dark, from 6-8 p.m. when you can see the endless light stripe from Da Nang to Hoi An and many fishing boats catching seafood. You can combine this trip with visiting some secret northern Da Nang beaches.
There are three pagodas named Linh Ung in Da Nang. The first one sits on the Marble Mountains, and the second one is located on Ba Na Hills. But the one here on the peninsula is the largest, most famous and considered the most beautiful in Da Nang city.
