Capture Tho Ha Noodle Handicraft Village – 1 Day Photography Tour
Photograph and explore life in a traditional handicraft village along Vietnam’s Red River Delta.
Explore one of Northern Vietnam’s best-preserved traditional handicraft villages on this unique half-day photo adventure.
We head out to Tho Ha, a riverside village renowned for its charming architecture and production of rice paper pancakes. Tho Ha handicraft village retains the mud-brick houses and winding, narrow alleyways typical of the old Red River Delta, among which residents spread out their rice paper to dry. On our way back to Hanoi we’ll stop by Bo Da pagoda, one of the region’s most sacred ancient sites.
Learn the art of travel photography while discovering the true traditional life of the Red River Delta.
Expectations
In the surrounding village and markets, you’ll be able to capture wide angles, with frames full of activity in every corner of your shots, and explore different focal ranges, perspectives, and compositions.
The village workshops are dark and moody, and the use of natural lighting can create a fantastic atmosphere and emphasize the subjects and your composition. Mixing with the villagers and craftsmen also offers a plethora of portraiture shots and a cultural perspective not possible on your typical tour.
The day at Tho Ha will provide most photographers with technical challenges but also an amazing platform for creating documentary photo stories, portraits, and landscapes along the river’s edge.

Truly a great place to explore. This place also had beautiful ceramic walls. According to the guide, this village was famous for pottery; now, rice paper is well-known everywhere.

I was worried that my business schedule was a bit boring. However, I found this tour. It was great that this tour was only about a day, and this village was near Hanoi. I explored the craft village and enjoyed my time. The tour guide was incredibly knowledgeable. He not only showed me how to capture great pictures but also taught me valuable techniques, even with my old phone.

In addition to the craft village, you can visit the Bo Da Pagoda, one of the region’s most sacred ancient sites, on this tour. Having seen many pagodas in Vietnam, I found this particular pagoda to possess unique features that truly impressed me. I took numerous photos, capturing nearly every corner of this pagoda. When I showed my friends these pictures, they were genuinely impressed. Thanks to Vietnam Is Awesome for this tour. It was truly worth every penny.

I liked this village. It is not too far from Hanoi. However, if exploring entirely, you must get up early to get there in the morning. But well worth it. The rice paper here was delicious. I also bought a few packs as gifts.

Tho Ha Noodle Handicraft Village is suitable for those who like architecture and fine arts because it looks ancient. It was an old village by the river. You have to take a boat to get there. You will go through small corridors with walls built from pottery and ceramic pieces before reaching where rice paper is produced. Interesting, right?
