In the center of West Lake, at the furthest point of the peninsula, there is the beautiful Tay Ho Pagoda, which is possibly the most popular worship place in Hanoi. Locals and even travelers from outside Hanoi come here on the first and 15th day of each lunar month, and also on Sundays and pray for good fortune to the Mother Goddess, Princess Lieu Hanh.
The legend says that she emerged in the 17th century as a beautiful girl smiling and reciting poetry in front of a fisherman on the lake. Then she vanished without saying who she was. But the locals found out her identity and built Tay Ho Pagoda for her. The pagoda is a little blue and white construction that is a vibrant place where people come to worship the Mother Goddess and ask for money, health, and happiness.
