1. Stir

Address: 136 Le Thanh Ton Street, Ben Thanh Ward, District 1

Stir has once again been recognized as one of Asia’s top 100 bars for the second year running — a well-deserved honor. Among three bars in Vietnam to make the list in 2023, Stir holds a special place in our hearts as our top pick. What makes it stand out? It’s the perfect blend of Vietnam’s essence, with local ingredients and craft liquors, all set in a relaxed yet tasteful atmosphere reminiscent of old Indochine times.

If you’re a fan of martinis and truffles like us, their Truffle Martini is a must-try.

2. Tre Eatery and Bar

Address: 12J Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Steet, Da Kao Ward, District 1

Tre, one of three bars owned by mixologist Tan Pham alongside ATM and The Alley, might fly under the radar, but it’s just as impressive. Like its siblings, Tre boasts impeccable service and a beautifully designed space. Here, you’ll find primarily classic-style drinks and a great selection of bites to choose from.

3. Ministry – Concept Bar

Address: 17 Le Duan Street, Ben Nghe Ward, District 1 (inside Sofitel Hotel)

Ministry, formerly Ministry of Men, is tucked away inside the Sofitel Hotel. It transports you back in time with its classy whiskey club ambiance. What’s special about Ministry is its creative cocktails, each inspired by a historical figure and served in an unexpected way. For a memorable experience in Saigon, try their best-selling creations like the Marie Curie or Winston Churchill cocktails.

4. Legato

Address: 126 Pham Viet Chanh, Ward 19, Binh Thanh District

Legato brings a touch of sophistication to the lively Pham Viet Chanh Street with its classy speakeasy vibe. Hosting jazz nights three times a week, it’s the perfect spot to unwind. Their mixologists take pride in crafting bespoke drinks or whipping up classics like our favorite, the Boulevardier. It’s the ideal place for a refined evening in Saigon.

5. PK Maltroom

Address: 8A Dang Tat Street, Tan Dinh Ward, District 1

PK Maltroom, situated in the up-and-coming bar area of Tan Dinh Ward in District 1, boasts a remarkable selection of whiskeys from across the globe and offers beautifully crafted signature cocktails. It’s the perfect spot for a drink after work or a late-night outing.

6. Lost – Drink & Chill

Address: 71/5 Mac Thi Buoi Street, Ben Nghe Ward, District 1

Lost can be found in an old building tucked away in an alley just steps away from Nguyen Hue Street. Another place to bring you back in time. It earns a bonus point for being open early – perfect for those looking for a cheeky afternoon drink. Try their Xoai Lac with smoked duck breast—it’s a winning combo.

I went to Lost in D1 last weekend. Very nice cocktails and vibe. But if you want to have a quiet place to talk, don’t go on weekends since they have a live band here those days.

@Tiffany Hoang I went there last month, and the cocktail was great. The view is stunning. I agree that the live music on weekends isn't ideal for anyone looking for a quiet experience.

7. Emme House

Address: 70 Ham Nghi Street, Ben Nghe Ward, District 1

Emme ticks all our boxes: it’s hidden in a 60’s apartment building, has a hard-to-find entrance, and a stunning design. Divided into two parts,  a kitchen, and a dining room, it’s perfect for any occasion. Cozy up at the kitchen counter for a drink alone, with a date, or gather your friends around the dining table in the next room for a meal together.

8. Tu Bar

Address: 160 Nguyen Tat To Street, Ward 22, Binh Thanh District

Tu Bar is located in Binh Thanh, a district popular with expats and locals, yet away from the nightlife scene. After passing through a wardrobe entrance, you’ll find yourself in a dark space with just 12 seats around the counter, creating a mysterious atmosphere. Chat with the mixologist to discover the intriguing personal story behind the bar, then prepare to be surprised by the bespoke cocktail presentations, each paired with a unique snack tailored to your order.

9. Koheis

Address: 151 Dong Khoi Street, Ben Nghe Ward, District 1

Koheis Bar, housed in an old French factory building across from the Opera House and named after its owner Kohei, offers a cozy and relaxed vibe. Expect intriguing flavor combinations, like the manchego cheese-infused Sampan rum, along with engaging and fun conversations. It’s the ideal spot for a nightcap after enjoying a show across the street.

10. To Bar

Address: 2 Le Thanh Ton Street, Ben Nghe Ward, District 1

To Bar is our favorite go-to place and our best-kept secret. Accessed through a GS25 convenience store, it’s a Japanese-themed speakeasy with a laid-back vibe. Despite its quirks, To serves up fantastic cocktails, from classics to their own creations. Their selection of Negroni variations is impressive, with our top pick being the cherry.

Saigon’s bar scene is booming, and believe us, we could recommend dozens of them.
