Vietnam has recently been ranked the ninth best country to visit worldwide, in a wide-ranging survey by travel magazine Condé Nast Traveler. Released as the aggregate opinion of over 600,000 readers of the prestigious American magazine, the ranking has Italy taking the crown as the world’s top travel destination and Vietnam clocking in third among Southeast Asian countries behind Indonesia and Thailand.
The magazine’s readers were asked to rate their recent travel experiences from around the world, in categories such as countries, cities, hotels, resorts and airlines. Every country was assigned a score representing the overall satisfaction level of an average traveller, and Vietnam in particular received a total of 92.12 points out of a possible 100.
Condé Nast Traveler also mentions Vietnam in its listing of world’s best hotels, with four Vietnamese hotels breaking into Asia’s top 20 in the category: Azerai La Residence in Hue, Hanoi’s Sofitel Legend Metropole and JW Marriott Hotel as well as InterContinental Hanoi Landmark72.
A luxury and lifestyle travel magazine, Condé Nast Traveler has published an annual Readers’ Choice Awards feature for the past 33 years. While the differences in scores between the winning countries this year are hardly significant, the ranking paints the greater picture of some of the world’s favourite travel destinations nowadays.
