Whilst riding along the Ho Chi Minh Trail, do yourself a favor and venture slightly off the beaten path once in a while. You're sure to find many a hidden gem, such as the incredible Thanh An Tea Hills. Lying snugly along the Laos border, these tea hills were once nothing more than an irrigation lake built to water the rice fields in the surrounding areas. It was only four years ago that locals began planting tea, and man are we glad they did! These scattered little islands are home to gorgeous hills of tea plantations, and can only be accessed by boat. Some of the tea farmers have set up small houses on the islands, a perfect little place to share some green tea and keep their tools safe. All of these aspects add to an already magical feeling while visiting Thanh An Tea Hills.
