Phu Quoc island is the second paradise I discovered after my first vacation destination in Vietnam, Nha Thang. This island is very idyllic with its evergreen forests, mountains and white beaches with coconut trees. We took a short flight on 17 August 2018, around 30-40 min, from Saigon to Phu Quoc Island, when we arrived it was evening. Our transfer to the resort was done by the hotel. The tropical flora is very nice, there are tropical forests, many small mountains and waterfalls on the island. It attracts tourists to its white beaches, also ideal place for climbing, diving and snorkelling. Fifty percent of the Phu Quoc Island is under national park status conserving coral reefs, rain forests and waterfalls, very good for trekking. Phu Quoc Island is one of the two big islands of Vietnam and it takes you 2-3 days to tour the whole island. The best thing I liked is that you can hire a taxi near the resort and make private excursions all day long, driver takes you to attractions according to your choices. We checked the map and decided the points to go, our first stop was cable car resort to take cable car trip which lasts around 30 minutes over 3 small islands in a row. The trip was amazing, we hopped off on the last island, by carts we reached to a beach where it was too windy, we just took a few pictures and headed to Bãi Sao beach, powder white beach with coconut trees. The return was again with cable cars. Our second stop was Ho Quoc Pagoda, another alternative to see in the island is this Buddhist temple, located on a high hill, ideal for meditation and sun set viewing. Phu Quoc Island has pearl farms, and their show rooms are in attraction lists, there's a serious amount of pearl jewellery production in the island. And our third stop was pearl shopping. We ended our day with a lovely live music by Christina and her band from Phillipines at our hotel Salinda. The next day was a little adventurous for us , we decided to take taxi again to see some more places in the island. Our first stop was the national park to see the rain forests, trekking was not easy on slippery wet rocks, during our trekking we saw unusual Vietnamese picnic, people were sitting in the water. After we did our trekking, we headed to see the fishing village Ham Ninh, but we had a trouble with the car, its tire punctured by nail so we couldn't proceed our trip. It began raining while the taxi driver was trying to change the tire, we were soaked and he couldn't achieve to change the tire because of his lack equipments. We phoned the hotel and they sent a taxi to pick up us. We returned to our hotel safely and left Phu Quoc Island with sweet memories.
I highly recommend you to eat coconut ice cream in the coconut shell.
