I came to Cao Bang, in the fall of August, it was also the time when I quit my job at the old company and joined the new one, the first impression I had when I arrived here was stone stilt houses, surrounded by limestone mountains. Most of the people there are Tay people, which I find interesting is the main language they use every day is Tay language (my native language), it is interesting to meet and communicate with them.
We hire a Homestay there and start visiting this place. We stayed here for 3 days and visited places such as Gioc Ban waterfall, Nguon Ngao cave, Phat Tich Truc Lam Pagoda, came there with the purpose of leaving the noisy city, experiencing new lands, running, and learn about the culture of people there.
Ban Gioc waterfall: is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Vietnam, located in Dam Thuy commune, Trung Khanh district, Cao Bang. From Cao Bang city to there about 90km, you can go by motorbike or bus, we have chosen the bus, from the homestay we rented it's about 4km to the Ban Gioc waterfall, and we choose to walk to visit and enjoy the scenery there, what makes me Interestingly, the waterfall is divided into many levels, the water flows through many steps of limestone, between the waterfall with a large rocky tissue covered with trees, it splits the water into 3 streams, the water from the top pouring down the flat stones to bounce countless small white particles, blurred in a large area. On sunny days, steam also creates a sparkling rainbow.
Nguom Ngao Cave: After going to Ban Gioc waterfall, we went to Ngom Ngao cave. Nguom Ngao cave is a big cave, in the local language, Ngom Ngao means tiger cave, has a length of about 2,144m, discovered in 1921. Including 3 main doors, a cold door at the foot of the mountain, a warm door a few hundred steps from the foot of the mountain, after we went for the second time, we knew the third doors that Ban Thuon door, behind the mountain. the first time we visited and go the way everyone went before, after 1 day we visited the Nguom Ngao cave by the third door we get a native there who led the way through the Thuon village to explore the rest of the cave, the part of cave was not yet exploited, because it was so wide and had a lot of big stalactites, the road was very hard to travel. Only indigenous people can know and guide tourists to visit this place.
Phat Tich Truc Lam Pagoda: The pagoda was built nicely on Phia mountain, about 500m away from Ban Gioc waterfall, where you can see the waterfall of the waterfall, and hear the waterfall. The pagoda was built in a pure Vietnamese architectural style, visiting here for free, it is a beautiful and quiet place to read books, meditate, or sightseeing.
I will go to Cao Bang at least once more to visit places I have not to visit yet, such as Hang Then Lake, Pac Po relic, and experience the life of the people there.
