Opera House

Opera House

Situated in downtown District 1, the Opera House is one of Saigon's most iconic buildings. This landmark, built in 1897, is an excellent example of the French influence in Vietnam.

From 1955 it was used as a seat of South Vietnam's Lower House, but since 1975, with capacity of 800 people, the theatre has been hosting musicals, ballet, symphony, and other performances.

One of the most popular shows is called AO Show. It is a one-hour journey through Vietnamese culture where music, dance, and acrobatics come together to create an intriguing spectacle.  Another one is Teh Dar showing a wild animal hunt, moonlit romance, jungle tales of death and reincarnation. The third show The Mist depicts Southern Vietnamese farmers' life conveyed in sensual contemporary dance language.
