Long Son Pagoda

Long Son Pagoda

Long Son Pagoda is the main Buddhist temple in Nha Trang. Built around 1990, it replaced the former Temple destroyed by a cyclone. Slow but constant expansion to the temple has been made through various offerings ever since.

The Temple is located at the foot of the hill. Various restorations have taken place during the reconstruction. The temple’s entrance and roof are decorated with Dragon Mosaics. Parts of the dragon are wrapped around the main altar. The main hall is decorated with interpretations of classic proverbs.

There are deviations of animal paintings woven into the interior decoration. The temple is a working monastery. There are a school and living quarters close by. The Temple is surrounded by a beautiful landscape garden and intricate topiary.

The 152-step walkway through the peaceful garden area takes you to the peak of the hill. This is where a pure white statue of Gautama Buddha is placed, looking over the temple. The sculpture of Buddha sitting on a lotus flower takes precedence over the area.

Walking around the area will allow you to see the reclining Buddha, sculpted to pay homage to Buddhists fighting against repression in the 1950s. The amazing view of Nha Trang should not be missed. This Pagoda offers one of the best vantage points in the city.

Long Son Pagoda is located at so 22 Duong 23/10, Phuong Son, Nha Trang. It is open throughout the day and night. Be careful walking the steps during the dark hours.
