Vietnamese carmaker VinFast will sponsor 393 automobiles for events hosted by Vietnam in 2020 at the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) conferences.
The formal sponsorship was confirmed after an agreement was signed in Hanoi on Wednesday morning between VinFast and the National ASEAN 2020 Committee.
After Monday's 35th ASEAN Summit in Bangkok, Thailand, Vietnam formally assumed the chairmanship of ASEAN.
As ASEAN's rotating chair in 2020, Vietnam will host all year round the ASEAN Summits and related meetings.
For these activities from now until September 2020, VinFast has committed itself to slowly handing over 393 cars to a logistics subcommittee within the National ASEAN 2020 Committee.
“It’s our honor to chauffeur international guests using made-in-Vietnam cars,” stated by Mai Tien Dung, Minister-Chairman of the Government Office and deputy head of the National ASEAN 2020 Committee, at the signing ceremony.
VinFast was founded in 2017 as the automotive arm of the Vingroup multi-sector conglomerate.
At the end of June, the company shipped its first shipment of cars made in Vietnam to customers.
