Eight students from Vietnam participating in Australia's 2019 Asian Physics Olympiad (APhO) brought home prizes.
Two silver medal winners were won from the 12th graders of the School for the Gifted Students of the Northern Bac Giang Province and the 12th graders of the High School for Gifted Students from the Ha Noi High School for Gifted Students of the National University of Viet Nam.
The 20th APhO took place in Australia from 5 to 13 May with 22 countries and territories participating. The competition involves two university standards, one theory and one practical, 5-hour long examinations.
Of 165 competitors, 87 were awarded medals including nine golds, 16 silvers, 33 bronzes and 29 merit certificates. After China, Russia, Israel and Taiwan (China), Viet Nam's team ranked fifth.
