Considered the ‘Oscars of the travel industry’, The 2021 World Travel Awards is a highly coveted award and this year, Vietnam was nominated in nearly 50 categories. A testament to the country’s alluring qualities - delicious and colourful cuisine, hospitable locals, breathtaking landscapes and vibrant culture.

Vietnam’s Tourism Industry

In 2019, Vietnam saw more than 18 million tourists visit every year before the country closed its borders last March in an effort to contain the novel coronavirus. Nevertheless, the WTA nominations reaffirm Vietnam’s position as a favourite bucket list entry for hungry wanderlusters and travellers.

Given Vietnam’s rich and deep culture that can be seen in its many UNESCO historical sites that connect with Vietnam's 54 different ethnicities, its inclusion comes as no surprise. In fact, Vietnam won first prize in over 18 categories in 2020.

Named the world’s leading heritage destination in 2019 and 2020, Vietnam has once again been recognised for its heritage preservation efforts and is vying for its third win against the likes of Japan, Egypt and Greece.

The Competition

If you want to help Vietnam earn the recognition it deserves, make sure to cast your vote! Voting ends on the 24th of October and winners will be unveiled on the 26th of November. With only a short time left it’s time to show your support.

Here are all the categories that Vietnam and Vietnamese companies have entered.
