Ba Chuc Tomb

Ba Chuc Tomb

Ba Chuc Tomb is 40 kilometers south of Chau Doc, a small city in the An Giang Province. It was built to commemorate the massacre from 1978 where the Khmer Rouge killed over 3 thousand villagers. A round white building resembling a lotus flower is an ossuary where skulls of the victims are displayed.

There is also a memorial room where you can learn more about this tragic event. Lots of photos will help you understand how brutal this massacre was, and the walls are stained with the victims' blood to this day. Although often compared to the Killing Fields in Cambodia, at first sight this place looks more innocent with clean, spacious areas and flowers set for decoration.
