Photograph and explore life in a traditional handicraft village along Vietnam's Red River Delta.
Explore one of Northern Vietnam’s best-preserved traditional handicraft villages on this unique half-day photo adventure.
We head out to Tho Ha, a riverside village renowned for its charming architecture and production of rice paper pancakes. Tho Ha handicraft village retains the mud-brick houses and winding, narrow alleyways typical of the old Red River Delta, among which residents spread out their rice paper to dry. On our way back to Hanoi we’ll stop by Bo Da pagoda, one of the region’s most sacred ancient sites.
Learn the art of travel photography while discovering the true traditional life of the Red River Delta.
In the surrounding village and markets, you’ll be able to capture wide angles, with frames full of activity in every corner of your shots, and explore different focal ranges, perspectives, and compositions.
The village workshops are dark and moody, and the use of natural lighting can create a fantastic atmosphere and emphasize the subjects and your composition. Mixing with the villagers and craftsmen also offers a plethora of portraiture shots and a cultural perspective not possible on your typical tour.
The day at Tho Ha will provide most photographers with technical challenges but also an amazing platform for creating documentary photo stories, portraits, and landscapes along the river's edge.
